Start with the audience. The seat count decides the screen size, and the screen size decides everything else.
How many people will be seated?
Capacities are the manufacturer figures for each screen size: how many the screen serves with the audience in chairs, on grass, or standing. Seated is the figure most events plan against.

Will the venue take it?
The projector distance guide gives the recommended minimum distance from the projector or CineBox console back to screen center, and the crew each size needs.

The 9' row appears in the placement guide; published screen sizes start at 12'. Use these distances to check that a venue can seat the screen size being considered.
Counting cars instead of chairs
Drive-in capacity, from the Elite specifications: ~100 cars for the 25' screen, ~150 cars for the 30' and ~300 cars for the 40'. An FM transmitter for in-car audio is a $1,500 add-on.
