Rooftop Films Present Outdoor Movies in New York City

Rooftop Films presents outdoor movies across New York City every Friday and Saturday — some on Brooklyn rooftops, others at parks and public spaces. The default venue is the roof of the Automotive High School in Williamsburg, convenient to the G and L trains. Fort Greene Park and the Brooklyn Navy Yard screen for free; most other events run $8–$10. Founded by Mark Rosenberg with Dan Nuxoll and Sarah Palmer, the series specializes in international indie cinema with a strong New York character, and live music precedes most screenings.

Sound is well-calibrated for the respective venues; video projection quality is serviceable rather than theatrical. Beverages are available at most venues, and you're welcome to bring your own food — a rooftop picnic with a bottle of wine before an independent film is hard to beat on a summer night in New York.
