Cromarty, Scotland: Outdoor Movies at the Cromarty Film Festival

The Cromarty Film Festival's outdoor programme, Northern Exposure, screens films made in or about northern Scotland in the parking area next to the Londis in the centre of town. All selections connect to life north of the 57th parallel, where Cromarty lies; the organisers aim to do something a little unusual each year.

One edition featured A Poem of Remote Lives -- a classic Gaelic-language film about the Scottish island of Eriskay, made in 1934 by ethnologist Werner Kissling -- alongside Zip and Zoo, a 2008 short starring John Hannah, directed by Bruce Robertson. Both were projected onto the side of a house in the open air.
